The Maine Northmen punched their ticket to the IBLA National Tournament after defeating the Cambridge Nor'Easters in a best of 3 playoff series over the weekend.
The Northmen traveled down to Massachusetts on Saturday where they dropped game one of the series to Cambridge with a disappointing 8-7 loss. Game two was played on Sunday back in Maine at the Cross Insurance Arena where the Northmen were able to rebound and even the series with a 7-6 win and force a game 3. Game 3 was played immediately following game 2 and was condensed down to 20 minutes. The Northmen were able to carrier their momentum and took game 3 with a 4-1 win.
The Northmen will now head to Florida in September and compete in the National tournament over the course of 3 days (Sept 17-20). Maine will be looking to replicate the success they had in 2019 when they won the National Championship.
